Our 2027 Beneficiary Jimmy Latham
For 30 years, Jimmy dedicated his life to protecting and serving the Greater Lowell community as a police officer. Today, he is facing a relentless battle of his own. First diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1999, Jimmy has valiantly fought this debilitating disease for nearly three decades.
In recent years, the toll of MS has compounded with severe secondary health crises, including multiple minor strokes, a pulmonary embolism, severe pneumonia, repeated hospitalizations, and dangerous falls at home. Despite these crushing physical setbacks, the "stubborn Irish, Acre kid" spirit in Jimmy remains undeterred. A proud father of four Jimmy (26), Laura (24), Catherine (22), and Jack (20) his ultimate dream is to regain enough health to resume his legal career and return home to the Lowell area.
While Jimmy’s service provided him with retiree health coverage, the compounding out-of-pocket medical expenses, specialist co-pays, emergency ICU stays, and out-of-network ambulance transports have created an enormous financial strain. Living on his own, the physical and financial weight of fighting this disease alone is overwhelming.
